Our Story

Dick and Pauline Beijen, the Devon Wool people.

The Devon Wool People

At Devon Duvets, we are known by many as the Devon Wool people, and for good reason. Our founders, Dick and Pauline Beijen, left their bustling international careers in 2008 to pursue their passion for farming and sustainability on a charming smallholding nestled in the heart of Dartmoor in Devon.

Their love for Devon and the environment led them to the world of wool. They began breeding sheep for wool and had a revolutionary idea – wool duvets. Together with their local mill, they developed a special way for the wool to be needled and created a unique design which produced a luxurious and lofty duvet that embraced the body and draped as a duvet should.

Not only were they the first to handcraft British wool duvets in the UK. These duvets were also a breakthrough in sleep technology.

Sustainability

Their commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly practices caught the attention of the legendary Monty Don, who featured them in his Channel 4 programme, My Dream Farm, in 2009. And with that, Devon Duvets was born.

As pioneers of wool duvets, we have been spreading the magic of wool ever since, making a difference to British farmers and changing the way we sleep. Each product is individually handcrafted by skilled seamstresses, in our Devon workshop using the best, all-natural materials for an authentic British bedding experience.
